Born and raised in the US, John Christy has lived and worked in San Francisco for most of his life. He worked for the San Francisco Fire Department (SFFD) as a Paramedic, Paramedic Captain, and Firefighter-Paramedic for nearly 40 years. His last role at SFFD was as the leader of the Stress Unit, where he and his team were responsible for helping firefighter crews respond and deal with high-stress and extreme situations. There he won several awards, including Firefighter of the Year and Meritorious Conduct.
Having dealt with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) himself, John began leading the Peer Support group for the SFFD and helped fire department members navigate the most challenging calls. John has committed his life to help others deal with stress and trauma and has rigorously studied the discipline of ontological coaching. He currently works as a professional certified coach helping first responders and business leaders deal with trauma, overwhelm, and stress and build resilience.
