Executive Coach/Leadership Under Pressure
John Christy, PCC CPCC
In my Executive and Leadership Coaching, I bring together experience from several unique worlds, in service of my clients. I have 36 years in the first responder world of San Francisco, leading teams to respond to emergency situations, assessing the situation quickly and determining the correct course of action, and when not in the field, leading a support line for first responders coaching for their wellbeing in this intense line of work. In the first responder world, I am known for my integrity and commitment to supporting the men and women both in the intensity of the response to an emergency call and in the ongoing development and aftermath of the important and intense work they do. I bring all of this to my work with Executives and Rising Leaders.
As an Executive Coach, I am a courageous guide and fierce advocate for who my clients are becoming as leaders, and in expanding the possibilities and impact they want to make in their organization and in the world. Being a leader is a big responsibility, and brings with it pressures, expectations, and opportunities. I am a steady partner to the leaders I coach and am there to hold their bigger vision with them, and champion and challenge them to make it happen.
Executive & Leadership Coaching
I coach Executives and Rising Leaders who are looking for a coach to partner within service of stretching toward the next level of their career and lives.

Executive & Leadership Coaching
Executive & Leadership Coach
I enjoy working with executives and leaders that have found some level of success, and are now in a place where they want to "up their game." They are looking to improve on what's already working for them, and really reach for what the next stretch or next level might be for themselves. Together we get behind the scenes, explore some big questions, and get big picture about where they are heading. We integrate this new awareness of their strengths and values and opportunities with their day to day activities, and move the coaching from just a nice conversation to an applicable experience that elevates their interactions daily moving forward.
I work with Executives and Rising Leaders on topics ranging from their presence as a leader, their impact on others, setting bigger and better goals, challenges personally and at their work, imposter syndrome, and use a strength based approach to champion them and challenge them in service of who they are growing to be.
Let's connect to see if we are a fit to do some exciting work together. If you are interested in learning more about coaching with me, you can reach out via my Contact form, and I'll schedule a short phone call for us to connect. If we decide we are a good fit to work together, you can either work with me individually outside of your company, or we can be in touch with your company about coaching through their development programs and benefits.
I love working with my corporate clients, and bringing my years of experience in the first responder world to their corporate world. The intensity of my work as a first responder brings knowledge, tools and new perspectives to my work with Executives, and to looking at the challenges and opportunities they face. Get in touch, and let's talk about your goals, presence, struggles, and what this next level of leadership might hold for you.
The Co-Active Coaching Method
Co-Active Coaching is an experience of personal and professional development unlike other kinds of coaching. Based on the Co-Active Model, it begins by holding the coachee as naturally creative, resourceful, and whole, and completely capable of finding their own answers to whatever challenges they face. The job of a Co-Active Coach is to ask powerful questions, listen and empower to elicit the skills and creativity a client already possesses, rather than instruct or advise.
Often what is missing in the conversation is how to adapt to an ever-changing world without feeling overwhelmed. How can you build an inner resource that is adaptive to changing circumstances? We must learn to accept that we are often faced with circumstances beyond our awareness to understand… much less navigate.
Instead of looking for our outward circumstances to look familiar or somehow find someone that can 'tell us what to do,' we must build inner resilience that supports us to meet the challenge. We can then accept that it is in that process that change occurs. In our outside circumstances, but more importantly inside, the way we perceive it. I bring years of working with and exploring that conversation with others to my coaching. Let's see what's there for you.
"I appreciate having John in my corner... Since we've worked together I have more confidence in and respect from the people I'm working with."
I facilitate workshops for both corporate clients and first responders on topics around resiliency, presence, leadership, and wellbeing. My signature workshop is Mission Focused Teams, approaching work-life balance from the perspective of resilience training of first responders. I bring my years of experience in the first responder world, to the corporate world, to explore with teams how we can look at work-life balance and wellbeing for leaders in the workplace. To inquire about booking one of my workshops, or to book me as a guest speaker at your event, send me an email in the form below and let's connect.

The Power of the Human Herd, California
First Responders Workshop
The Power of the Human Herd is a workshop with first responders on resilience, using horses. The workshop was centered around the concept that "you don't have to crash from PTSD before you take resiliency seriously." In this workshop, first responders interacted with horses through different activities, working with the horses to stress test their nervous system and see where their weak spots were. Connecting with the horses, and all their power and size is a great way to explore the physicality of resilience and gives a lot of information to explore. In the debrief, we explored with participants how they could form a "human her" and improve the way we navigate through difficult times together.
'This workshop showed me a way to embody leadership, and to own who I am on the scene of an emergency'
